![]() TL2's skills actually feel like they hit hard and are viscerally satisfying. It undermines the entire point of the skill system. "Build diversity" in D3 is exactly equal to each of the prescribed ability loadouts that are hard dictated by the three viable endgame sets per class, with very little wiggle room in each. It is simply not a good game for today's standards.ĭ3 has a few cool areas, but I definitely prefer TL2's overall look. The only reason to play tl2 is if you can't afford d3 or can't afford another console to play grim dawn. Poe also is not nearly as smooth gameplay wise despite being amazing for features and design. And path of exile while amazing isn't on switch. Grim dawn is good if a bit clunky, but not on switch. Try playing a wizard in d3 and then an embermage in tl2. Ignoring the fact that item balancing inventory management and all that is way worse in tl2. and if you say well why would you do y when x is better. There are so many options and different mechanics in d3. Heck even if we say that there was only one build per class, that still outperforms torchlights very boring and clunky skills. There are multiple sets, and usually most of them can switch out a few skills to customize. Torchlights clunky controls and boring areas and story are not really selling your case here.īuild diversity doesn't exist? Bullhockey. You're also asking the question on the Grim Dawn forums, so of course the answer you're going to get here is going to be "Grim Dawn". Grim Dawn is a more complex game with more content overall. the TL IP is either owned by, or in the process of being acquired by THQ Nordic/Embracer Group (AFAIK). but there were some serious issues with that, and Perfect World ended up shutting THAT down too.Ĭurrently. One of the three leads went on to form Echtra games, and produced Torchlight 3. There is an endless dungeon at the end of the story for both TL1 and TL2.īut also be aware, Runic Games was shuttered by it's corporate Parent (Perfect World) following the production of their last game (Hob). They're both good games, TL2 is more complex than TL1 of course. The reason for that of course is that many of the Runic Developers were Blizzard North (Condor) alums who actually DID work on D1 and D2 (and D2:LOD). Torchlight 1 and 2 are roughly analogous to modern or at least "more modern" versions of Diablo 1 and 2, only in a lighter, more cartoony style. ![]()
